Tasktop Planner

The Tasktop planning tools allow you to perform agile planning using your existing task repositories.

Components

With the planning tools, you can use:

• the Release Planner to view your plan in a tree structure, manage your sprints and backlog, and edit individual tasks.
• the Planning Boards, which are the Story Board and the Task Board, to see and update your progress during each sprint.

See the Getting Started section if you are new to using the Tasktop Planner.

Settings and Preferences

To edit the settings and preferences for each release plan, you can open the Release Properties dialog by clicking on the Release Properties button on the toolbar.

Task status settings

Please refer to the “Configure Kanban Setting” section in Using Kanban in Tasktop Planner.

Statistics calculations preference

In the Statistics section of the Release Properties dialog, you can set your preferences for statistics calculations in the Release Planner.

1. Total effort / time remaining of a story is
   • If you estimate effort and time remaining on subtasks and do not estimate on the story level, or estimated values on the story indicate the extra time in addition to those estimated on the subtasks, select "Value on the story + total value of its subtasks".
   • If the effort and time remaining values you set on a story is the total for the story, including those for the subtasks, then select "Value on the story only".
