Accessing Requirements, User Stories, Issues, and Tasks

Queries

Your CA Agile Planning and CA Clarity Requirements entities can be managed from the integrated Task List. First, create a query for the entities you wish to manage. Click the New drop down in the Task List toolbar and select New Query. In the New Query wizard select the CA Agile Planning and CA Clarity Requirements repository you wish to query and click Next. On the next wizard page select "Create query from my subscriptions" and click Next. On the final wizard page enter a Title for your query and click Finish.

Your newly created query will include all of your subscribed entities. If you want a certain entity to appear in this query simply add yourself as a follower to that entity, using the CC control in the People section of the Task Editor (see help section below). Conversely, to remove an entity from this query, remove yourself from its followers list.

Custom Queries

The CA Agile Planning and CA Clarity Requirements Connector also allows you to create custom queries. To create a custom query, create a new query as above, but on the "Choose query type" wizard page, select "Create query using a form." The following wizard page contains a query editor with which you can add various filters to your query. Use the first pull down menu to select the type of entity you wish to query for. Then add filters on various attributes. Each row in the Filters section represents an attribute filter. Use the first pull down menu to select an attribute, the second pull down menu to select an operator (such as "equals" or "contains"), and last field to enter a value. To add another filter, click the "+" button. Filters can be combined using either the AND or OR operator, selected using the radio buttons following each filter. The last filter row is used for date attributes. Only one date attribute may be used in a single query. Once you are satisfied with the set of filters, enter a Title for your query and click Finish.

Tasks

Once your query has synchronized with the CA Agile Planning and CA Clarity Requirements repository, a number of entities should appear in your Task List.

Blue arrows appear in the Task List next to entities with new (unread) information. Double click on an entity to view the new information in the Task Editor. Note that changed attributes are highlighted in blue.

You can view and make changes to your Tasks, User Stories, and Issues using this rich editor. You can also view and post comments to your Requirements. (Making other changes to Requirements is not supported.) With the Task Editor you can:

Once you've made the desired changes, click the Submit button (located at the bottom left in the Task Editor and top right in the Task Editor toolbar). The changes will be submitted to the CA Agile Planning and CA Clarity Requirements server and a blue arrow will appear next to the task in your team members' Task Lists to tell them that a new change has been made.

Creating New Tasks

To create a new CA Agile Planning and CA Clarity Requirements entity, click the New drop down in the Task List and select New Task. In the New Task wizard, select the CA Agile Planning and CA Clarity Requirements repository you wish to create a new entity for and click Next. On the next wizard page select the type of entity you wish to create and click Finish. A Task Editor will open and you can edit your new entity as described above. When you click the Submit button your new entity will be created on CA Agile Planning and CA Clarity Requirements server.

The CA Agile Planning and CA Clarity Requirements Connector also allows you easily create sub-entities. To do so, right click on an entity in the Task List and select New -> Subtask. Alternatively you can click the "Create a new subtask" button in the Task Editor toolbar. Creating a sub-entity for a Requirement will create and open a Task Editor for a new User Story under that Requirement. Creating a sub-entity for a User Story or an Issue creates a new Task under that User Story or Issue. Creating sub-entities for Tasks is not supported.
