With the Tasktop Connector for Borland StarTeam, collaborating efficiently with team members is simplified and streamlined. Post comments, attach files and screenshots, share task contexts, and create or navigate associated entities all from within Eclipse.


When using the Borland StarTeam connector, communicating with your fellow team members is effortless. Without leaving the Eclipse, simply open the Story, Task, Change Request, or custom item you wish to comment on and enter your comment in the New Comment section near the bottom of the editor. Pressing submit will post the comment to the StarTeam item and a blue arrow denoting your new comment will appear next to the same entity in fellow team members' Task Lists if using the Borland StarTeam connector.


Attachments can be added to StarTeam items simply by dragging and dropping onto the editor. Alternatively, you can expand the Attachments section of the Task Editor and press the Attach button. Add a screenshot by expanding the Attachments section of the editor and pressing the Attach Screenshot button.

Sharing Contexts

Once a task has been activated, the files and web pages associated with it can be shared with fellow team members. Right click on the item in the Task List and select Context -> Attach. To retrieve a context, right click a StarTeam item in the Task List and select Context -> Retrieve. Alternatively, you can right click on a context in the Attachments section of the editor and select Retrieve Context.

Linked Tasks, Relationships, Dependencies, Links

Use Linked Tasks to link from StarTeam items to web pages, or to Stories, Tasks, or Change Requests in other issue tracking systems.

Linked Tasks is a section of the task editor. Browse dependencies and relationships and add new ones (by selecting the type and providing a URL or task) or remove existing ones (by using the context menu). Double clicking the item within the Links list will open the resource.

Time Tracking

The Borland StarTeam connector supports submitting work activity to the server for Tasks. The Time Tracking section displays total active time as recorded by Tasktop in the top right corner. The Worked Since Submit field displays the amount of activity accumulated since time was last submitted. The Work To Submit field allows the user to modify the amount of time that will be pushed to the server. Total Work Recorded displays the amount of time that has been recorded on the server. The Work Remaining field allows the user to edit the estimated time remaining on the Task.

Submitting time is only supported for Tasks. For other Items, the Time Tracking section will only display time recorded locally by Tasktop.
